For nearly half a century, the Thatched Cottage restaurant in Weston super Mare has been operated by the same caring family; serving Mediterranean influenced cuisine by drawing on a base of experience laid down by several fine chefs over the years.
The authenticity of this restaurant is beyond question...the building is a 230 year old seafront cottage (officially the oldest building in Weston) and still has a genuine section of thatched roof. They are also the only eatery in Weston to be Gold Star Commended.

Open 365 days a year, they offer a full a la carte service all day every day, which is complemented by a lunchtime menu comprised of meals between £4.95 and £7.95. They also offer a daily selection of specials to complement their fine a la carte menu which is also available everyday, specialising in scotch steak and fresh fish including Sea bass, Lemon Sole and Monkfish. All meals are freshly prepared from the finest raw ingredients, even the sauces are made individually for every order.
Inside the atmosphere is warm and relaxed, the soft melodies of modern jazz suit the friendly convivial nature of the staff who are highly skilled and effortless in their work. An open plan kitchen allows you to see the chefs at work-skillfully conjuring up dishes from the incredible selection of ingredients that are brought to their kitchen. When the food arrives it is presented beautifully and in a modern style.
The Thatched Cottage also stock a generous range of wines and champagnes; perfect for an impromptu celebration, and with a little notice they will cater for weddings, birthdays, anniversary parties and other functions. Deeply popular among the locals for several decades, it is not hard to see why. Outside is a paved terrace with cover and heater, and soft music playing over the waterproof speakers completes the al fresco experience.
This restaurant scores very highly in every aspect, and in particular the staff are a prized asset; the service is truly excellent and backs up the food to make the eating experience as good as it gets in this area.
Me and my wife have been coming here for many years. One of the truly great restaurants and we shall be having our 30th anniversary here, thats for sure.
